1 (who?)

Dynamite w/ a Laser Beam

Journal Entry: Wed May 9, 2012, 7:27 PM

Alright lovelies.
Ignore the terribly depressing bullshit I posted a few days ago.
I doing a lot better.
I promise.  ^ u ^

And don't worry, I'm not gonna give up on my art.
Just gonna keep working at it and try and do more stuff out of my comfort zone.

And by that I mean, actually using different medias and experimenting.
I have ungodly amounts of art supplies sitting on a shelf, collecting dust, that I haven't even touched!

Plus my close friend/roommate basically gave me his tablet because his computer died and he can't use it anymore....
So I'm going to actually try my hand at CGing.... *eyes the tablet, looking rather intimidated by it*...eventually...
I downloaded Paint Tool Sai and some other programs, so soon I'll be hitting up tutorials and doing my best to create all the awesome art I see up here that I'm super jealous off.

At least I hope so anyway.

So if anyone has any tips or words of encouragement...
I'm all ears.

  • Eating: Clementine Oranges
  • Drinking: Cranberry Juice

Plenty of tips and encouragement, but one thing that you can try that challenged me; Draw Ponies!!

I can't get the cartoony little things right, so why not try and beat my efforts and draw something completely out of your usual area. Draw the actual ponies, not humanised! The colour palette will certainly use up all your excess art supplies :floating:

No tips for the tablet though, that's just a matter of practice. Hand-eye coordination is all it takes, and spending the same kind of time on it as you would with a regular form of drawing.

I'm one of those guys that kind of instantly 'got it' when I used the tablet, so I can't explain exactly what it takes to get the knack of it ^^;

Oh! I've drawn ponies...I guess I just never put them up here. Lemme go upload a few so you can see 'em. ^_^

Darn, thought I had you challenged... Rrrright...

Ah-hah! Yes, now I have a challenge: Draw Steampunk!! You'll need at least one mechanical object in there, such as an arm or Phlogistonator Beam, otherwise it won't count.

WTF is a Phlongistonator Beam?

I actually really like Steam Punk. Dunno why I haven't drawn any at all. Huh.
*wanders off pondering*

'Phlogistonator' (Floj-iss-ton-ay-tor) A beam known to rapidly bombard and thus ignite phlogistons, which are known for their abundance in all flammable things, for the intention of setting fire to any and all of said flammable things. A great way to roast marshmallows evenly, or your enemies most unfairly. - Prof. D.A. Evans, B.Thau. Dip.Hon. University of Applied Mad Genius.

Actually, I can't take credit, it's a Team Fortress 2 creation: [link] I just love to use it myself.

And yes, go, draw mechanical and Victorian-future-fashion in vast amounts!

Fantastic!!! I am so glad to hear you are doing better and going to keep working on your art!! TABLETS ARE SO MUCH FUN!!! I've only ever seriously tried to use Corel Painter 12. Everything else intimidates me- but mainly because I haven't used it. I love Corel Painter- it's super fun. The glory of tablets is you can always click 'undo' and not worry about an eraser wearing the paper down or spending hundreds on Copic markers or oil paints. It is so much fun!!!

Dude, seriously. Copic or even Prismacolor markers are sooo expensive. It's killer. OH! I was at work today and found a program called "Manga Studio"...I think I might get it once my employee discount kicks in. *u*

Oh awesome!! I hear that program is great!! You'll have to let me know!
